When you’re planting it’s important to consider the type of soil and the type of plant you are planting. If you are planting from seeds it is a good idea to use a special formulated soil for seed raising. These soils are light and airy giving the seeds room to sprout and enough moisture retention that they keep the seed able to grow while with enough drainage to not flood the seed out. If you are planting from a seedling, use good loamy soil that is easily broken apart with adequate drainage. Avoid hard or dry soils.
When planting seedlings give your soil a good treatment with the right amount of organic material. Loosen the soil and get it wet. Avoid planting in the heat of the day opt instead to plant in early morning or late afternoon to avoid shock to the plant. Make sure you know how far to plant your plant. Some plants like to be closer together while others like to be more distanced. Finally, if your plant grows to a decent height give it a cage or something to guide its growth early on so as not to damage it later in it’s growth.
