The only registered Vaccine for Vibriosis in Australia.

A bit about the infection, it's causes, and treatment.

Vibriosis in cattle reduces productivity and reproduction. Initially the infection causes issues with the reproductive tract in female cattle having been passed on by infected bulls. This will lead to delays in conception. The ensuing damage to the reproductive system will cause infertility. While many infected cows develop immunity and eventually go to calf, their pregnancy rates can be reduced by up to %20.

The vibrio organism lives in the infected sheath of a bull and is transmitted to a cow during mating. As bulls get older there is more of a chance for the vibrio infection to develop and hide. Older Bulls are more likely to carry and infect than younger bulls with the infection spreading quickly through the herd which is why vaccination of bulls is essential.

Vibrovax® from Zoetis ® is a great option for prevention of infertility issues caused by Vibriosis. After a Vibrovax ® vaccination program the effects of will be minimized. It is important to continue your vaccination program for bulls and heifers.

Vibrovax® is the only registered vaccine for vibriosis in Australia. It also prevents shedding of vibriosis ® as a safeguard for your heifers and cows’ reproductive potential. It can also be used to vaccinate heifers and older cows and Bulls.
