Knowing the Difference between Types of Barb

info952189

When choosing barb for your fence line there are choices to be made. Do you know the difference? What are you using it for and what are the strains your fence may be facing?

Tara Rural Supplies has high quality barb and fencing products from Waratah. An Australian company creating high quality fencing products for Aussie farms for nearly a century and a half.

We carry two main barb products from Waratah.

Our High Tensile blue barb is made for strength and durability. It is a High Tensile wire making it great for suspension fencing. High Tensile has a higher breaking strain at 5.0kN (kilonewtons measurement for breaking point in wire) for the 2mm wire. High Tensile copes well with added strain and is a durable option. Diameters from 1.57 to 2mm make it a stronger option.

Diameter (1.57 to) 2.00mm- Breaking Strain (3.0 to) 5.0kN -Recommended Tension 1.3kN 1.3kN 1.6kN

Our Iowa Barb comes in a 2.50mm and softer than the higher tensile making it more bendable and flexible. It is easier to use than the High Tensile, and despite it being softer it has a higher resistance to fire.

Diameter 2.50mm -Breaking Strain 3.0kN -Recommended Tension 1.3kN

Waratah is a quality Australian company. Waratah has been providing quality fencing to Aussie farms for nearly a century and a half. Because they are an Aussie company their products are made for Australian conditions.
